Ecological Democratic Party
Ökologisch-Demokratische Partei - ÖDP

The ÖDP (not to be confused with the Turkish left-socialist ÖDP) is a moderate/conservative and ecological party, basically a more center-right counterpart to the Greens.
It has been founded in 1982 by Herbert Gruhl and his followers, leaving the Greens, as this had become to leftist. Among the parties that have no representation in federal or state parliaments, it is one of the most successful. It takes part in most elections and although never coming close to the 5%-threshold in state/federal/European election, it has gained a significant number of municipal mandates (in particular in Bavaria and Baden-Württemberg). Furthermore it is quite active in referenda, its most significant success being the referendum for the abolishment of the Bavarian Senate.
Over the years, the ÖDP has used a number of slightly different logos, always including the party abbreviation and for quite some time now the colour orange. The party abbreviation is currently written in lower case letters.
However, I had never found any party flag; also the official information from the party had claimed (in 2000) that they had no flag [1].
During my recent WWW research I found a flag, though. This has been introduced together with the most recent, 2006 version of the logo. Themflag is orange, with the party abbreviation and the full party name in black, size 80x115cm [2,3,4,5].

Another flag in use since 2008 for hoisting in front of party conventions, etc., is a vertical flag (440x140cm), white, with an orange stripe at the fly, and the orange inscription ödp, plus the black inscription of the party's full name.

Ecological Democratic Party Flag
(Variant with White Text)

A variant of the flag with all inscriptions in white also exists. Considering the frequency of its appearing on the photos which can be found online, it seems to be much less used than the variant with inscriptions in black.

ÖDP Alliance for Families
Ökologisch-demokratische-partei Bündnis für Familien

In the 2008 Landtag (Bavarian state) elections, the Ecological Democratic Party (Ökologisch-demokratische partei) appears to have added the motto "Büündnis für Familien" (Alliance for Families) to their standard ÖDP party flag, perhaps in an attempt to project a more family oriented look to voters. The flag has the typical orange field, but with black lettering, fimbriated white, and the addition of a "period" following the large "ÖDP" lettering.
The ÖDP remains a relatively minor "environmental, center-right, conservative" political party in Germany (approximately 4,000+ members) with most of its activity still taking place in local Bavarian elections. Since it was founded in 1982 by former members of the German Green Party, the ÖDP has been considered by some as a local successor of the more racist Green Action Future Party (Griine Aktion Zukunft - GAZ), founded by the former Nazi Frankfurt Zoo Director Bernhard Grzimek. The ÖDP has past associations with the Family Party of Germany (2004-2006), and their current platform remains focused mainly on democracy, the environment, and family policies. They favor state financial support for families and childrearing, and a belief in the right to life, opposition to late abortion, euthanasia, and the death penalty. The party has a youth organization called the Young Ecologists (JÖ or Junge Ökologen).
